Web Sessions

Web sessions take the time, expense, and hassle out of traveling to Binghamton. If getting to my office is a problem for you because of distance or physical limitations, consider the convenience of the computer.

What are Web Sessions?

You and I will communicate over the Internet via the free program Skype, using a web cam. We will be able to see and talk to each other.

How does it work?

A Web session is very similar to an in-person session. You will sit in a comfortable chair in front of your computer screen and web camera as I sit in front of mine. We both sign onto the free website Skype.com. After we are connected to each other the session will proceed just as if you were in my office.

What if I want to come out of the hypnotic state before the session ends?

Remember, you are always in control and I am your guide. If you want to end the session all you need to do is let me know. I will bring you out of hypnosis, either by counting or using a given "Exit" word which I establish with you at the beginning of the session.

What if we become disconnected during the session?

I have never experienced the loss of sound on Skype, but it is possible to temporarily lose the video. If that happens I will instruct you to open your eyes and stay in a very relaxed state while you reconnect the video feed. Once video contact is re-established you simply close your eyes again while I guide you back to the state of relaxation you were enjoying before video was lost. This infrequent technical adjustment will not negatively affect the quality or outcome of your hypnosis in any way.

What if we lose both audio and video contact on the computer?

I will call your house or cell phone which you will be able to answer even though you are very relaxed. I will then guide you through reconnecting and returning to your state of hypnosis. You cannot get "stuck" in hypnosis. You can always open your eyes and bring yourself out of your relaxed state any time you wish, or simply fall asleep and wake up refreshed. You are always in control.

How do I know if my computer connection is adequate?

We will schedule a quick technical check before your first session to make sure we can connect without problems. At a minimum you need a broadband connection to the Internet. Dial-up connections are not fast enough for Web sessions.

What does it cost to get set-up for a Web session?

Skype is a free downloadable program and the site does not charge for video conferencing. You will need a web cam and microphone, although most web cams have a microphone built in. Optionally, you might choose to purchase earphones with an attached microphone in addition to the web cam. These supplies are widely available in many stores and on the Internet for $50 - $100. With high gas prices and other expenses of traveling, Web sessions make a lot of sense!

How do I pay for the sessions?

Web sessions are conveniently charged to your credit card. The cost for Web sessions and office sessions is the same.
